Brittany is presenting itself as a region of innovation and experimentation in health, committed to the health of tomorriw, putting the patient at the heart of the health system, for well-being at all ages.
The ecoystem is mediated by Biotech Santé Bretagne and gathers numerous actors: Université de Bretagne Occidentale, Université de Bretagne Sud, Université de Rennes, EHESP, IMT Atlantique, ISEN, INSERM, CNRS…
Topical subdomains
The objective is to develop medical devices and secure and interoperable e-health solutions, and to be recognized as a leading regional at the European level.
The ecoysystem is gathering 17 research units, hospital centers, engineering schools, EHESP, IRT B<>com, CIC-IT of Rennes, technological platforms, living labs health autonomy, and an inter-regional network of 34 life science platforms Biogenouest.
This subdomain aims to strenghten the region’s position in the field of innovative (bio)therapies, with expertise recognised in the value enhancement for health of molecules from agricultural and marine resources.
Research forces are composed of 3 research units, 3 biological health resource centres, 200 public and private health care establishments, and many compagnies that are collaborating in numerous structuring projects such as clusters dedicated to biotechnologies and health.
The objective is to make Brittany a region recognised in the fields of prevention , especially acting on determinants linked to the environment, diet, physical activity, well-being at work or addictive behaviour, in the “One Health” approach.
This subdomain’s objective is to structure the sector of disability and loss of autonomy in Brittany, through innovation for the health and well-being of people with disabilities and leverage of around structuring projects such as Handicap Innovation Territoire.
The region gathers 16 research teams, 45 innovative companies and more than 750 social and medico-social establishments for adults and children with disabilities. They collaborate through the Living Lab Santé Autonomie network.
This subdomain aims to improve the quality of life of older people on the territory, in terms of not only health, social links and inclusion in society, but also food on housing. Innovation in this sector should bring Brittany on the national and European map.
The CRESS (Regional chamber for social economy) and actors gathered in the Kozh Ensembe association are mediating the regional dynamic.
The objective is to make Brittany a reference territory at national and international levels in terms of innovation in marine cosmetics and biotechnologies applied to cosmetics.
Focus on… Biotech Santé Bretagne
Biotech Santé Bretagne is a technological innovation center, gathering the local ecosystem of the biotechnologies and health sectors. It is working in close collaboration with local competitive clusters such as Valorial (agriculture – food industry) or Atlanpole Biotherapies (biotherapies, health and digital, disease prevention).
Biotech Santé Bretagne is also coordinating the Biogenouest network (technological platforms in Life Sciences and Environmental Sciences).
